Your simple bun can be a fashion statement merely by adding a jeweled headband, a flowery clip, or decorative hair sticks. Hair is a part of your overall outfit that is often overlooked, but having the perfect hairstyle can bring the look together or ruin it.
The bun is a versatile and quick way to give your hair some flair. You can wear it messy and loose or tight and neat, and you can put it where you want, from the nape of the neck or at the crown of the head. The things you will need to get your hair into a stylish bun include a brush and comb, elastic hair bands, bobby pins, mousse or hairspray, hair sticks, headband, decorative clips or pins, and a curling iron.

It can be a bit difficult to make straight hair curly, but it can be done. There are a couple of easy ways to manage this. Begin by washing your hair the night before you want to debut your curly hair. Once the hair has been properly washed and followed up with a good conditioner, comb it out with a comb that has wide teeth. This will help you remove any tangles. If you have difficulty removing the knots, use a detangler especially made for children; these products are often better than those made for adults and have a wonderful scent.
If you want your hair to have a crimped appearance, divide the hair into 4 distinct sections. Each portion should be made into tiny braids before you fasten them with a type of non-slip ponytail accessory. Read More »

Simply going to school is a major outing to many young women. It is usually the only place they go and see their peers daily. For high school girls who are beginning to do their own hair, creating the perfect hairstyle each day can be quite challenging. Classmates may taunt or criticize them, if their hair isn’t perfect. However, the styles below will keep young girls looking their best daily and are very attractive ways for them to wear their hair to school.
1. Straight Hair with a Braid on the Side
Wearing the braid on the side is very hot these days. You can see it often being worn by Lauren Conrad of “The Hills”, who is an inspiration to a lot of girls. This look is great for girls in middle and high school. It is also a nice look for school dances. Read More »

At what rate does a person grow and lose hair?
Hair growth’s usual cycle is 2-3 years. Hair grows about 1 cm monthly while in this phase. Approximately 90% of your scalp’s hair is growing at any given time, while the other 10% is going through a resting stage. After three or four months, the resting hair will fall out, with new hair growing in its place. Shedding some hair daily is normal. Still, some people may have excessive hair loss. This kind of hair loss affects women, men, and children.

The presence of static electrical currents in your hair can really do a job on a nice hairstyle. This happens most often in cold conditions and in areas where the air is dry or where the humidity is low. What happens is that the electrified particles in your hair basically make your hair stand upright. Static electricity in your hair can be avoided though, and in some cases, it is as simple as using items you already have in your home. A few of these items are dryer sheets, hangers, brushes, cans of hair spray, and hair gels or pomades.

You may have noticed a few kids – or even adults! – wandering around your neighborhood in costume this evening. Store-bought costumes have been on sale for weeks, and I’ve seen some really clever and eye-catching ones, but homemade costumes are special because of the creativity involved in making them. Whether you sew one from a pattern, or jury-rig something from items you find lying around the house, a bandana can be a great addition to any costume. Here are some typical – and hopefully not-so-typical – ways to incorporate a bandana into your dress-up.
1. Cowboy/Cowgirl: whether you tie it around your neck, gunslinger-style, or over your hair like a girl out riding the range, you can’t leave out a red paisley bandana with this one. Read More »
I attended the US Open Tournament in Flushing, Queens, this past year. I had never been to a tournament of this size and I was just in awe of the internationally ranked athletes playing at the Arthur Ashe Stadium that evening. Not only was I a first time US Open attendee, I didn’t even know who was playing that evening. Everything changed once I saw Rafael “Rafa” Nadal and Teymuraz “Gaba” Gabashvili take the court below. While waiting in the check out line with a very active 2 yr old last week, I noticed a page open in an In Touch Weekly magazine. The first thing I noticed was that the article was about Snooki, the very popular star from MTV’s Jersey Shore. The second thing that I noticed was that Snooki’s father, Andy Polizzi, was in a wearing a blue bandana on his head. I wouldn’t think that would be the first head covering choice of the father of a very famous Snooki, but it led me to posting a blog about some other very famous bandana moments in history.
